  7. I found these flies on a DAT the other day.  I don't know where they
  8. came from in the first place, I didn't record them!  I don't like flies
  9. or other bugs on my tapes either, but these small creatures sound quiet
  10. facinating - especially on a rather high output level!  The flying
  11. things were transferred digitally from DAT to an Akai S-1100 equipped
  12. with a digital I/O board.  Furthermore they were transferred to the
  13. Amiga and Samplitude Professional via MIDI Sample Dump.  (Yes, I was
  14. going to have a break anyway....) In Samplitude Professional the flies
  15. were resampled at 24.131Hz and converted to 8 bits.  Finally they were
  16. exported as 8svx files.  The resampling was done in order to save space
  17. *AND* keep a respectable sound quality (compared to the original 16 bit
  18. (flies) file).  In this way, the flies have not left the digital domain
  19. on their journey to a new life as 8-bit Amiga samples.

  22.     Please beware that Samplitude, for some strange reason, exports
  23.     the IFF-sounds with a default volume setting of 0 (zero).  I
  24.     haven't changed this.
